About
Shelby has worked in the social services field for 25+ years. She completed her BA at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, her MA at LSU studying concepts of self identity and her MSW with a focus in Gerontology at the University of Missouri. Shelby has worked in multiple positions with older adults since moving to Ohio 15+ years ago. Before coming to Ohio, she lived and worked in several locations in the US, Europe and Africa. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary/VFW National Home.
Shelby is also a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio. Being an LISW means that she has undergone 2 years of clinical supervision post MSW, tested and made a commitment to incorporating the National Association of Social Workers' (Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice) Code of Ethics in her daily practice. Shelby is a licensed mental health therapist in the state of Ohio and this informs her practice as an Aging Life Care Manager. As a Professional Member of the Aging Life Care Association, Shelby has also committed to their Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
Shelby is a lifelong learner she is interested in the people that she serves and believes that working with older adults is a privilege. She has been a long distance daughter and caregiver and understands that families are all unique and that each set of relationships can have its own dynamics. Lastly, she believes that all people, all families need the space to be themselves, to be understood and accepted just as they are so that they can build a trusting relationship with their Care Manager.
